TiniFiber announces expansion

November 2020

The cabling manufacturer has expanded from its previous 6,000 square foot building to a new 18,000 square foot headquarters located in Farmingdale, New York.

TiniFiber has announced another facility relocation and expansion prompted by increasing demand for its patented fiber-optic cabling solution of the same name. The manufacturer has expanded from its previous 6,000 square foot building to a new 18,000 square foot headquarters located in Farmingdale, New York. According to company co-founder Barry Skolnick, before COVID-19 lockdown mandates forced its closure, TiniFiber was on track for a third consecutive year of significant growth.

“Our TiniFiber Micro Armor fiber-optic cabling solution has been extremely well-received since we first introduced it in 2015,” said Skolnick. He continued, “Over the past five years, its reputation as an extremely durable, flexible and adaptable alternative to conventional Aluminum Interlock Armor (AIA) has grown, and we have been experiencing high demand for its use in diverse applications. That demand, in turn, has enabled us to grow our annual revenues consistently at a rate of 45% year over year from 2017 through 2019.”

Before the COVID-19 crisis forced its closure, Skolnick noted the company was on track for an extraordinary year, but as a result of the pandemic, will record a modest increase of between 8-10%. The manufacturer employs over 25 people and is projecting additions to its workforce if business growth returns to its pre-pandemic pace.

The TiniFiber Micro Armor fiber-optic cabling, a U.S. patented product which has earned multiple industry awards, is 65% smaller and 75% lighter than AIA, notes the company. The cable’s tightly-wrapped stainless steel coil, combined with Kevlar, give the product unrivalled strength and resilience.

TiniFiber claims its Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cabling Solution is the industry’s first AIA alternative in over four decades. Skolnick added, “TiniFiber armored stainless-steel coil also protects the cable’s bend radius to deliver a crush-proof and vermin-resistant solution that can withstand the harshest environmental conditions. It has proven to be an effective solution for even the most challenging applications.”

The company reports its TiniFiber Micro Armor cabling product has proven effective in a wide range of projects, from commercial, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) residential, healthcare, data centers, 5G rollouts, broadband, and DAS/wireless networks, to security, audio visual, mass transit and airport infrastructure projects, including those at the Moynihan Train Hall in New York City’s Penn Station and at LaGuardia Airport.

The company says it is making strong inroads in the United States, with growing market share underway in Canada, and new relationships for its application building in Mexico. Skolnick, who co-founded the company, CertiCable (dba TiniFiber) with Christian A. Peterson III in 2010, has seen the company grow to become one of the leading manufacturers of high quality, high performance custom cable assemblies including both copper and fiber-optic solutions.

“Our growth has always been predicated on our continuous response to changing market needs and our investment in product R&D that will return real benefits to the marketplace,” commented Peterson. “Our TiniFiber Micro Armor Fiber Optic Cabling Solution exemplifies both our corporate culture and mission.”

According to a company press release:

Recognized as an innovator, TiniFiber has gained the recognition of cable decision-makers and influences, from engineers, builders and contractors to IT professionals and facilities managers. Its heightened brand awareness, in turn, has fueled product demand, prompting the company’s latest and third relocation. It has retained its staff even during today’s unprecedented times and is projecting potential new hires based on continued demand.

“Now, more than ever before, in today’s era of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and 5G the market needs cabling solutions that can accommodate new bandwidth demands,” continued Peterson. “For many commercial and infrastructure applications, there is also a greater focus on optimizing space, which TiniFiber Micro Armored Fiber Optic Cabling Solution squarely addresses along with broader sustainability objectives.”

Because of its smaller size and lighter weight, TiniFiber notes its Micro Armored Fiber Optic Cabling Solution can be installed by a single person for significant labor savings. The product is billed as easy to splice and faster to terminate for custom solutions than standard AIA. Ideal for reclamation of conduits, its smaller size also enables it to be pulled through tight pathways, curved spaces, aerials and underground routes with ease and in less time than AIA, contends the manufacturer.
